SPI Epoxy with a .08 detail gun

I have two inner fenderwells that I need to spray some epoxy on the top side and on the inside of my new rear quarter patch panels. I have a small Ingersoll Rand .08 tip detail/touch up gun. Im sure ill have to reduce the epoxy 25% but has anyone shot epoxy with this small of a tip? Im not dead set on a perfect finish since once I weld this stuff back on it will never be seen again... Just want to make sure no rust starts...Thanks!

All the detail gun tips are different, most 1.0's will work but only way to know if .8 will is try, why not brush on, so you know you have proper coverage?

I have sprayed full strength epoxy with a 1.0 detail gun
just fine, I'm sure a 0.8 would work fine if it's reduced a little.
I never have understood why a detail gun can do thicker with
a smaller tip than a regular gun. But they do.

Yes, I could brush it on I suppose... im also kind of itching to use this new gun too:)
I think i might try the gun on the fenderwells and I will brush on the inside of the patch panels.

I shot SPI White Epoxy last weekend with a 1.0 detail gun. Reduced 20% (that is, 2 oz reducer to 10 oz mixed epoxy) and it sprayed out great. I expect 0.8 tip should also spray reduced epoxy just fine.

I have shot full epoxy through a .8 transtar detail gun and I was not happy with the results, my 1.0 Sata minijet 3 sprayed out much smoother.
I think a bit of reducer would be good for that .8 but you won't know until you try!

i use a mini iwata with a 1.0 no problems. helps when everything is on the warm side (above 70, paint is thinner gun is more dialated) pressure a couple lbs up.

A 1.0 in a sata mini will atomize close to a 1.3 in a full size gun.

Thanks for the info everyone, hopefully i can shoot tonight, but might be tomorrow. Its been a consistant 85° in my garage by 6pm so i think that will help. I'll let you know how it goes

Well the gun and epoxy shot great! I mixed 8oz and reduced with 1 oz for a total of 9 oz. (reduced 15 %) The gun is a Ingersol Rand 200G with the .08 tip. Ill probobly only use this gun again for my small parts but hey it sprayed great, cant complain for 60 bucks. Thanks everyone
