...... the perfect paint job as outlined in the tech manual that uses Universal Clear?

So...................
Spray three coats of either Euro or Production clear, sand, then spray three more coats of either Euro or Production clear for the Almost Perfect paint job?

I’m pretty sure it’s common practice for some folks who prefer euro. I’d assume production would be ok as well if that’s the clear you prefer. Assuming you don’t wander too far off the tracks with cure times, activator speeds, reduction, etc.

Well this is good news for me that it can be done. I have no doubts that Universal Clear is the choice for a dedicated show car. Show car guys are a breed of there own spending countless hours polishing and detailing for every show. My hats off to them for their dedication. Micro scratches might not overly concern the dedicated show car guy due to them always detailing the car.

I however would like to be able too wash my car and microfiber towel dry the car without getting micro scratches. This has me leaning towards using Euro Clear since I've read numerous comments that micro scratches aren't an issue.

Just to be clear, Universal is not going to micro scratch, swirl, hologram, etc if washed and dried correctly. It certainly won't with a quality microfiber towel. Many here think Universal is so delicate, it's not. Tired of it getting repeated in posts. (not saying this to anyone specifically)

Where you might have issues. If you are using low grade sponges, dirty wash mitts, low grade or dirty microfiber towels. Or if you aren't rinsing throughly and then wiping with a sponge or mitt.

By the logic in various threads here you would never be able to completely buff out UV because the microfiber towels would leave swirls. Simply not true.

Like I said above clean quality products are key. With Euro and Production you may have a slightly larger margin of error for using dirty wash materials or towels but it's not night and day. After 6 months the difference is very very small.

Barry would never have developed and promoted as SPI's flagship, a clear that microswirls when anything touches it. Soft is a relative term when referring to UV. Mainly it means the clear stays buffable throughout its lifetime. It does not mean you have to polish it after every wash.

Again just stating this, not referring to you MJM or anyone else. Just want to put the facts about UV out there and clear up the fallacies.

Good information, I'll have to start a thread about where to purchase a quality wash sponge.

Going through my files, I've painted 15+ completes with UV clear. I don't understand the "softness" everyone talks about. I've painted quite a few with Euro, and I even had a love for production clear at one time, speed clear.....not interested.

Sorry to say, and I know I have done it also. I think sometimes people really over think things here, and it gets extremely confusing for individuals coming here looking for information.

I could line up 3 cars I have done with UV, Euro and production and I would bet the house that nobody could tell which one is which.

You lost your love for production clear? No use for speed clear? I’ve yet to try it but it seems like it could be handy for situations. But then I say well I can just add polar to my regular clear. Or throw the heat lamp on it lol. Too many ways to skin a cat!

Not really a loss of love. My work load slowed down and I think I wanted to play around with Euro some more. I dont really have any need for the speed clear and honestly when some members were experimenting with it I just didn't like the sound of it. 100% uneducated on it so I cant really comment further.

I hear that. I thought it would be handy for headlights and smaller parts just haven’t tried it yet.

I agree with this 100%. Park all 3 or 4 outside and would bet you can't tell. That being said, I like middle of the road, Euro.....but I do love me some production clear.

I like euro too. But sometimes I overthink things and don’t like the fact I have so many options for activator speed and reducer speed.

I use both Production and Euro and for my collision work like the Production clear a tad better but either one is great.
