SPI Single Stage Red color vs. SPI Base Red

Looking at a paint chip sent by SPI, of SPI Red base coat over Red Oxide primer. Is the Single Stage Red the same color as the Base Red? Also, will it change hue over a Red Oxide primer the same? Debating between Single Stage and Base/Clear on a 93 F150 daily driver. Thanks in advance for any help.

I can’t remark on the color similarities but a red oxide primer will not change the hue if you spray to complete coverage.

It is precisely the same color, except the ss is mixed with clear.
Thanks for the confirmation, Barry.
I have several sample cards that were sent with my last order. They are of the SPI Red over different sealer colors. They are printed on the back "SPI Red over White sealer", "SPI Red over Grey sealer" and "SPI Red over Red Oxide Sealer". There is a definite difference in the shade of red. I'm assuming the SPI Red is the Base red not the Single Stage.
Would the Single Stage Red look the same over a Red Oxide sealer? Also, will it change with the number of coats sprayed? It's very close to the original color of my truck.
Thanks in advance

All colors will look different over different colored sealer until true coverage is achieved. Coverage is defined as the true color without any influence from the underlying ground coats. Rarely will anyone spray to full coverage as it can take many coats depending on what color your ground coat is.
Three coats over white sealer will appear lighter than three coats over gray sealer which will appear darker. Three coats over red oxide will appear fairly true to what the color is. Using red oxide or gray is safer than using white as white will show any areas that did not receive the full three coats. White is often used with SPI red as it makes red "pop" more in sunlight.

Great explanation! Thanks Chris.
