spray Universal clear in Non- baking paint booth.

Guys does the fan need to be shutdown after the overspray clears between coats? Plan to give each coat 20 to 30 min flash time.

You can shut it down between coats as well if you want. Not going to hurt anything and may help depending on the amount of airflow through your booth.
 
No kidding? I always thought that was a no no. Damn that would have saved me so much stress during the winter months all these years.

That’s exactly why I turn it off. To keep the heat in the shop and booth. Lets my shop heater warm up the shop and get ready for the next coat. I run a small electric heater in the booth between coats too.

Again, mandatory backyard hack disclaimer inserted here. YMMV….

I'm honestly so irritated right now! I always thought it had to stay on.

I can't even begin to tell you how frustrated i get the cold months. Holy shit this information is amazing. How dumb am I!

I was lucky enough to bring it up with Barry early on, and he was clear, turn fans off between coats as soon as the worst overspray is clear.
But I still watch the shop thermometer and fret as the air temp plummets with fans on in winter.
One thing I learned was to heat the shop up hours ahead of spraying. The thermal mass of the shop and contents radiates back in when air temp drops and helps get air temp back up faster.
Also, the car cools much slower than the air.
An IR digital thermometer is required equipment.
Everyone probably already knows all this . ...but if it helps one person, thought I'd share.

Anywho, my intakes are garage windows. I use window sized plywood to deflect the cold upwards. Surprisingly, it really helped keep the project warmer. Does that make sense?

That sounds pretty much exactly how I had my old garage set-up. Worked really well. And I was wanting to do the same thing with my new garage but the window setup didn't allow it.

Now I have 2 HVAC runs both with their own fans that push air in that is drawn from the back room. It works ok. But far from perfect.

They both used to feed the wood box. But now the one is capped off.

i usually let it run between coats but typically by the time im done spraying its only running maybe 5 min then im back in doing the next coat so not worth the shutdown each time. i have shut it down between as well and i see no difference either way other than the flash slows way down. i typically shut it down right after the last coat.

You don't wait the 30 min between coats?
 
Inhave never had universal take 30 min to flash. Once i can lightly run my finger over it and not have it stick then its ready to gi. If it takes me 20 min to make it around all my parts then its damn near ready to just start the next coat
