I just sprayed SPI epoxy primer this weekend using a TP Tools Showtime turbine sprayer with their 1 quart Proline HVLP pressure gun and a 1.8 needle. I have had several people recommend Southern Polyurethanes products so I knew they were excellent but I was skeptical of the turbine sprayer. I was pleasantly surprised at how easily the paint went on with almost no overspray. Best of all, no runs! I don't want to sound like a commercial because this is the first time I have painted a car so I have no point of reference. But I couldn't be happier. I started the bodywork this evening. It is definitely not as easy as the TV shows make it look! I am using Rage Extreme filler over the epoxy but I am not clear about what I do when I sand through to the metal in a few spots. Should I spray another coat of epoxy to cover the filler and the bare metal spots? From what I understand, I need to spray a 2K sandable primer over everything when the bodywork is done then then a diluted epoxy over that as a sealer before spraying the base coat. Is that correct? Thanks for everything.
