spraying metallics off the car/different orientation than when installed

Hi Guys,

I've read a lot of posts stating that if you spray a metallic paint on a panel that's not in the same orientation that it normally is on the car, then compare to one that is (say a door on the car, fender laying flat) that the metallics will lay differently and the panels will not match. Does anybody have pictures of this? I'm asking because I painted a few things, like door handles and side mirrors, and won't get the rest of the car for a while yet. Also, would different temps/humidity have any effect, say I painted parts weeks apart? As always thanks for the feedback!

the problem is people tend to shoot some pieces wetter than others. spray everything the same and it will be fine.

yes i agree. each bike i paint has atleast 20 pieces and they all hang every which way in the booth. i have never in 12 year specifically tried to hang the pieces in the same way they get put together and never had any kind of matching problem. not once. now if you spray at different times and the second round you hammer wet compared to the first being dry or you mix the base totally different, thats where you run into trouble.

I see, thanks guys! I've painted the door jambs and the inside of both doors, and will be ready to spray the car very soon. I'm going to install the doors and paint the sides of the car in one go, and the bumper covers/roof/trunk lid all in one session.
