Spraying small parts

I'm trying to figure out the best way to spray these small items. I've tried hanging, they fly around and I don't get good coverage. I've tried them on cardboard on top of stands like you see and the paint sticks to the card board and it rips off when to pick up the part. What do you guys do? I have seen some racks that you can bolt parts to but can't quit justify the prices.

I have had the same problem. I usually like to hang the small parts using one of these rotating powder coating hooks.

I also like to have a place to put another hook/wire in the bottom that allows me to hold pressure on the part while spraying and turning. It keeps the parts from swinging. Also with the Iwata lph80 you can dial the pressure down a lot, I know I have shot epoxy through it at 11psi before and this also helps with the smaller stuff.

All these small parts are different and you just have to get creative, I have even done a test run with just air in the gun to see how they would act. Curious to see what others have to say because I have also struggled with this.

i paint every part that comes out of my place hanging. im so used to it i can do a pretty darn good candy job with parts swinging back and forth lol. if your having trouble with the parts moving take a wire and hook it to the bottom of each part and hang a weight from it. i used to have some weights i made years ago. i took a 1qt mix cup and mixed up concrete or tile thinset mortar and put a lag eye in the middle. when it hardened i popped it out of the mix cup and made another until i had about a dozen of them to use. i can take some mechanics lockwire and hang it from the bottom of my part with the bottom end through the lag eye. keeps it from swinging and i can just stabilize the part with my one finger on the back side if needed. works kinda like an anchor

I have a couple of these clothes racks from a dept store that I repurposed into paint hangers. The lower bar is removable or has a lower position it can be bolted into, based on size of the part. I prefer multiple wires to hold the parts to minimize the swinging..

Nice, I like that rack! I should make something like that- I need something I can put in the middle of the booth. As of now I have hung items off the garage door track but does not give good access to the back

Rustover- those hooks you posted- I stopped at Menards /local hardware store and they had a bunch of very similar swivel hooks like that for around 2 bucks each. Kinda wishing I had grabbed a couple.

Yup, I got some small clothes racks from Ikea real cheap and they have rollers too. They are ajustable up and down and I can use the side posts to help stabilize parts. I've used Jim's idea also with the weights. Some times I'll hang mutilipe parts vertically and just tie one to another. Takes up less space too.
