Surface rust inside doors

The bottom edge of this door was pretty much rotted and mangled, so I cut it open to repair, and it looked like this:

I have since blasted out the lower half, but can not get to the upper half. The other door is in excellent shape and does not need any repair. However, it looks similar inside. For you restorers out there, what do you do about the surface rust inside? Leave it alone? I'm tempted to spray and rinse with Ospho and leave it alone. But, I don't want to wake up any sleeping rust in the seams when rinsing out with water. Or having acid seeping out of the seams later.

As for the door that I cut open, I'm considering brushing a coat of Ospho inside and leave it alone before I weld it shut.

Interesting! Never used it myself (POR). I'm a happy Rust-o-leum guy when it came to non upper body surface preparation and paints.

Poo-poo15 is the reason I converted to SPI. I won't touch that stuff. In fact I have another project on hold that I have to remove poopoo15.

Any other ideas before I use Ospho?
