How do you handle deeply pitted surface rust?

Do you find the spot blaster to work very well?
I have had one for a long time and have never been satisfied with how it worked. I put it down to my lack of skill?
Makes a mess and hard to control?

They all make a mess. The spot blaster just on a smaller scale. Zendex does make a self contained attachment for their spot blaster. It works goof for small areas like corners or small areas of corrosion. It won't make a mess.
If you use just the spot blaster, treat it like you would a full size. Mask off with duct tap and cardboard around the area to be blasted and do it outdoors if possible. Get it adjusted correctly before pulling the trigger on your work. Small areas it works pretty well. I like using crushed glass or coal slag.

if you don’t have the means or do not want to blast it I would recommend using naval jelly on it. Let it soa, scrub with a wire brush and reapply as necessary. Just used this method on a hood.
