Time for a new gun....should I go with the Sata 4000 or Sata 5000?

Trying to be the best me, I can be
I've decided to replace my Sata NR2000 and 2000RP as I don't feel the cost of the complete rebuild kit (Nozzle, needle, fluid tip and seals) is worth doing for the third time. So time for a couple of new guns. I'm comfortable with Sata's so I plan to continue with them just wondering if anyone has used both the 4000 and 5000 series guns. What are the differences? Are the 5000's an improvement or would I be just as happy with the 4000's?

If you love the RP 2000 for clear as much as I do, my preference is the 5000 RP 1.4, then again, I'm a fast painter and wet.
If you are the slower type the 4000 RP may be a better choice.
Neither the 3000 or 4000 RP did much for me but my little experience with the 5000, I do like, I say equal to the 2000RP.

I have the 4000 RP and have ordered a 5000 digital, as they have just come out with the digital. I have heard great things about the 5000.

Thanks for the info Barry. Very helpful, I found a like new 2000 RP 1.4 that I went ahead and snatched up for $250. Figured I can't go wrong there. Considering the new 5000's with a aluminum cup added in come close to a grand. Sheesh!!! As for my base gun anyone have any suggestions? I loved the Sata 2000 NR's that I've had (1.3 tip). What's comparable to that now? Anyone have any experience with a 1.3 Sata 4000 (hvlp)? I'm tempted to buy one of those on Ebay and save a little money.
Any thoughts/suggestions would be most appreciated.

LOL, cannot repeat what I said when found out the aluminum cup was an option.

Just remember the HVLP is not worth nothing for spraying clear but everything I have heard the 1.3 4000 sprays base pretty good.

Thanks again Barry. I've always been pleased with the way my 2000 NR sprays any type of base. I've used a 1.4 NR2000 to spray clear before and found that you can spray decent especially on smaller jobs but it always seemed to have a very small "sweet spot". Plus I turned the pressure up enough that I was way past the 10 psi at the cap....but I don't really pay attention to that anyway. I'll probably go with a 4000. I'll report back on my impressions.

Ok, we have a real problem here! I'm really liking this 5000 RP, had time to play with it instead of just testing batches.

Fan 95% fluid 1.5 turns out. 30lbs with trigger pulled seven inches away , just perfection.
Same setting and cranked pressure to 40 with trigger pulled, again perfection.

Fan 95% fluid 2 turns out, 30lb trigger pulled laid the clear with no effort, slick but you could tell it was heavy!
Same with 40'bs trigger pulled all I can say is move fast and just perfection.

Also did do a 1.5 turn out and a 25lb with trigger pulled sprayed, did nice, just not my style.

I have went from suspicious, to loving it, I can see a lot of guns I have being retired now.

Barry, was that a 5000 with a 1.4? I read somewhere they use less CFM's, true?
I'm considering the 5000RP with a 1.4 for clear but getting a demo to try around here is about impossible. I need another spray gun (or two) like a hole in my head but if they are that good I might just do it.
I like fast, wet and slick. Skipped the Iwatas because I heard they are slow. Only guns I liked (not loved) were the Geos but the latest Genesi with a 1.3 ain't so great with clear, base not bad.

Any chance SPI could start selling Sata guns? lol I am doing my best to save up and get a 5000. I almost had a set over the weekend, but another guy beat me to them. I am currently clearing with a 3000 RP 1.4 and base with a 4000 RP 1.3. I don't really like the 4000's 1.4 for clear, but I have used worse. I don't "need" a 5000 but after seeing some videos and hearing the reviews, I am drooling.

Yes, it is a 1.4 and its a hoser.
As far as the SCFM, its a hog, I had the air at wall at 157, turned it down to 80lbs and gun went to crap with same settings.
Of coarse this would not matter if using a medium or low solids clear and i was using a high solids.
Some painters in Canada have said the 1.3 works great also and my choked in 1.4 would confirm this.

I will have Andy get with Tony and see if they would be willing for us to do a deal, when I did this years back with Iwata, we went through $125,000 of guns in no time but all the on liners bitched, even though we would only sell to our customers.
