got this 18' trailer in for fresh paint. I haven't sprayed something this large and wondering how to spray it and keep a wet edge consistantly. owner already purchased single stage metallic for the job. fresh paint is stopping at the trim along the top. any tips would be greatly appreciated.
good timing for this one. I needed a break for reassembling the pacer.

forgot something: on the side near the front on the left theres some artwork that is staying. any tips on how to keep the tape line to a minimum?

a pressure pot would be nice for that, or plan on having two guns with someone helping to refill and move the ladder

When I paint something large like that I load up on the retarder, in place of reducer.
You can keep it wet without thinning more with reducer which causes runs.
Just spray it with light coats and it all melts in real nice.

a pressure pot would be nice, but not happening. I have a tekna with the dekups system so I will be able to have 2 cups ready to go. right now im thinkin I can get both sides sprayed with that, then refill both cups and do front and back.

thanks for the suggestion,jc. I completely forgot about my sons stepdad. hes been painting a very long time. talked to him last night and first tihing was," don't kow if I mentioned it but ive painted a jillion trailers and once I explain how, you will understand why."
he mentioned the retarder and im lookin into it for the paint, but not sure the owner is going to want to purchase more product. but if not im using a slow reducer to help.
he said,( and made sense to me) to grid it off in 4' by 4' sections. take one of them long sides and do a 4 by 4 square starting at the top left. move over and do the next 4 by 4. then drop down and do the 4 by 4 below the 1st and work in a diagonal pattern with the section. cant explain it but it makes sense.

I have loaded up with retarder (back in my enamel days) so much that
I could just mist it on and it would all melt and flow together slick as glass.
Wasn't suppose to use that much but it worked.
Sometimes it was best to do only the last coat that way.

I pass on stuff like that. Using retarder outside is like painting a bullseye on it for bugs, but that's just my humble opinion. If I had to do it I would round up a helper for sure, you will want to paint non-stop on that to prevent dry spray issues.
