Just a hobbies guy,A question .Do touch up guns have less over spray?
I often spray little areas like inside bottom of doors, same on a tailgate.Grill pieces etc.
Id rather use a rattle can then my full size gun, since I dont need to mask the whole vehicle, over spray is easily managed with my 4" dust collector.
Will or do touch up guns have less over spray? I know I would get a much nicer finish.
Thanks.

They can, keeping the air pressure as low as you can, while still atomizing the paint, will give you less overspray. It will effect the look of the finish, but will get a better coating then a can.

Ok thx, most come with a 1.0mm tip I see.I guess just reduce the clear until it sprays nice.
Watched a video and as you said it appears you can get a good finish without all the over spray.

I picked up an Iwata AZ4 HTE-S Junior, black-1 and silver-2 cap last year for a smaller gun. Iwata's AZ series have been upgraded from the original AZ guns when they first came out. It's not a mini gun, it's inbetween a mini gun and a full size gun. I have a 1.8,1.3, 1.2, and 1.0 needles and tips for it. I opted for the 200cc pot. The gun has the ability to spray primer, base coat, and clear coat.

I purchased it to spray spot primer repairs/touch-ups and to paint my roll bar in the car. The gun has good reviews on youtube. I'll post how I think it sprays shortly.

I picked up a Sharpe Finex Mini by Graco a few months back for using Cerecote. They recommend it 0.8 tip. I bought one with a 1.0 tips so I could use it for other stuff. You get a lot less overspray but you get a lot less paint out of the gun being a smaller tip. The pattern is a lot smaller so it works real nice spring small parts. Today I sprayed a number of items in black epoxy. I like it a lot for small stuff. Gunman on YouTube did a review of mini guns, it ranked well when considering cost, build quality, and quality of finish.

I think I have the same gun, FX 1000. I bought it with the 1.0, and got the 1.2. I typically only spray parts less than 12" x 24", so I love it for what I do. I didn't buy it from the local paint store, but I asked him about PPS. He ended up giving me a free PPS adapter

My disclaimer is that I learned on this gun, so I don't really have anything to compare it to.

I have a few iwata lph-80 's, and a sata mini jet. They definitely have less overspray than a full size gun.

I use the iwatas more than the minijet because they have a wider pattern. I spray mirrors to fenders and bumper covers with them. They seem to use less material since there is less overspray as well.

You're venting paint overspray into a dust collector?
Yes when I use a rattle can, does a good job of pulling it away from the job. I have it by passed to vent outside. When I need it as a dust collector it runs through the bag and filter as normal.

Love my lph80. It’s the e4 1.2. Great for small parts, tiny touch ups, etc. You can dial it in to almost an airbrush or crank it wide open. Which isn’t very wide but then again it’s a mini gun. You could def do a couple panels with it if you had to though.
