Hotbo, did you get a chance to use the veryslow activator for the 2100 yet?

Hmmm, the new price list for the 2100 lists activator #2104-4 as VERY FAST, so I guess it was just a mistake and it should appear as very slow instead.

I'll have to try it pretty soon, getting hot here in Vegas.

just shot some 2.1 with the slow activator.......i'm sold. was just a bumper so could have used the fast...will order some fast next week. stuff just wants to jump out of the gun...just like every other spi clear.

between the euro and the 2.1............i'm not sure what barry has up his sleeve for the "new" turbo!?

Great!!!
We had put it on the last price sheet but did not make the very slow, had it there in case we needed it but I did not think we would, I was more concerned the slow would be a little to slow.
Hotbo was shooting with the metal temp in the booth at 97 degrees last week so I knocked out a small batch Monday.

NO barry just got it Yesterday and didn't have a chance.i actually sprayed the Turbo on Thursday.

i have to Finish up a job on a 08 GMC that i have been Putting off this Weekend.

it will be a good chance to try it,as i will be spraying the Front clip and down 1 entire side.

so im excited to see how it acts in this weather.

Temps are suppose to be 98 and 100 percent Humidity, lol!!!!!!!!!!!

used the Very slow in the 2100 this evening and it worked just like i wanted it 2.

Barry thanks for Listening and doing!!!!!!

Travis...

Great.

What is your opinion as far as speed compared to the slow, a little slower or plenty slower or needs help?

When I did this formula of course I have the mathematical figure but real world tells the truth with this stuff.

What did it do to the flash times?

How big an area and temp at time.

Thanks for the help.

okay here is what it did in my situation.

i had to do a Hood both front fenders and 1 bedside

color was 8624 GM white on a 08 Crew cab.

Metal temps were ranging any where from 96 to 101 on the Hood area.

mixed 4-1 with the very slow, laid the first coat on pretty heavy and walked away for 10 minutes(the whole time i was thinking to long, lol!!)came back in and started laying the 2nd coat on and it was metling in really well.

even got a Run on the front of the hood and it had the most heat!!!lol!!!!!

Temp in the shop was 97.

i did not return into the shop till this morning i got done spraying at about 9 last night(which sucked)

so i have no idea how long it took to Flash off the last coat to the touch(out of Dust).

got very little Die back(only in the areas where i laid it on very heavy and that is normal for my Conditions.

lots less than with the reg.slow!

i will be trying more of it this week and getting back with you on feedback but as for the first time it was pretty well what i was after.

Travis...

That sounds great.. I know JimC says the very slow you created for the Universal changes the clear completely!!!

Thank you Travis, I will sleep better tonight, nothing I hate more then slamming something out like I did with this activator without proper testing.
I wrote the formula at 9, done by 9:30, had the batch made by 10 and finished filling at 11: After that a little spray and gel test that was it.

Not that it won't work it is just may have needed a fine tuning but with the metal temp like you said, I think I have it where I want it.
Barry

Just an up date on the Turbo clear, we are no totally out, one of our jobber just took a whole pallet of it.

Well my guess was only off by 3-4 months, the jobber wanted it all including all the excess activators about 200 extra so he can run a promo with paint and give an activator away with every so many gallons of base to activate the base.

Just glad you were able to clear it out and make room for the new stuff!

Barry I have a suggestion. It seems that everyone has an opinion on what you should do next. Why not start a contest. Who ever gives you the best idea for what the new clear should do wins a prize. Maybe a new Iwata spray gun and or a case of clear!

Well that sounds like a fun idea, I'd be interested to know what the pro's have to say regarding this, but.....

Wouldn't Barry exactly know what the new clear is supposed to do? I mean if it's coming out in the fall that is.

I'm hella curious to know what he has up his sleeve lol.

I have no problem with the contest but will say we are out of ideas, as we seem to have all bases covered except for a 15 minute buff clear and that would be easy to make but will never happen until I'm fired.

Looked at all the nano ideas and too many draw backs for that type of clear unless it was for aircraft only, kind of like Mercedes figured out a few years ago when they tried it on their S- series.

For every positive there is a negative and example is I'm about to test a new resin system now for the bed liner and would love to make a clear out of it as it is bullet proof but would not work in clear as it cannot be buffed, no way, no how!

We are always open to ideas.

Maybe a rally black type single stage with that resin system!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!

Oh that would be sweet but can't wetsand or buff.
I could hear that phone call!

there a need to wetsand and buff semigloss black? thats what i meant by rally.....like sikkens has. I just can't stand powdercoating on some things....the sikkens rally is about the most durable low gloss SS i've used...i know bob agrees also!
