Universal Clear Compatibility

I'm new to this product/forum but have heard & read good things about SPI products/support. I have a 2nd owner, numbers matching, 68 GTO Convertible that I restored & finally sprayed about 2 months ago. I want to add a couple three more coats of clear, but dont want to use that Xtreme 5 Star 5180 acrylic urethane clear again. After wet sanding can I spray the SPI Universal Clear over over the Xtreme 5180? Or what do you suggest as far as SPI product that I should use? I want my car to have the concourse show/shine.

Thanks in advance for your input.

I'd clean it thoroughly, and block with 400-600 wet and then apply 3 wet coats of Universal Clear....or strip off 5 Star clear, rebase if necessary, and apply 4 wet coats of Universal Clear. Block flat and work your grits up and buff/polish to a mirror shine. Clear will only look as good as your body work, as it just magnifies everything.

I appreciate the input, but I am still trying to findout if acrylic urethane and polyurethane are compatible with each other.

barry the owner will post here with answer or you can just call him. its that easy!
