Universal Clear Questions

Just bought some of the Universal Clear, and I am ready to try it. I am painting a complete box on a 2010 Toyota Tundra and I will be using Diamont basecoat (black). From reading the sheet on the universal clear, I understand it to say basically spray it as you want it to look. I hear that this clear does not run easy. Should i spray my first coat medium wet then? How long do I really need to let it flash before the second coat is applied? I see thirty minutes usually posted. My only concern is waiting thirty minutes seems to attractive more dirt/dust into the clear. I will be buffing the panels afterwards. I am in a block building, and do all my painting in my makeshift booth. Normally, most clear for me buff nice after a day and a half dry. What would be recommended with this clear as far as time in between coats, and dry time before I buff this black color? Just want to make sure I wait long enough as I know my booth stays a bit on the cool side. I am a bit concerned about swirl marks especially in a black paint job. Normally, I use 1000 or 1500 as a first cut with a interface pad on my DA sander depending on dirt or dust in each paint job. Any advice would be appreciated. I have sprayed a lot of different brands of clear over the years, so I am excited to try this stuff. Thanks for any advice!

That clear is real user friendly, even if you spray it wrong like I do it'll come out great.
I always spray light coats and never wait long enough between coats,
still, it turns out great,( I just avoid the runs & fish eyes with my style.)

JC,
Thanks for the reply. I needed a bit more info so I called and left a message with SPI. Barry called me back no more than ten minutes later, and answered every question I had. I am already impressed and excited as a kid at Christmas time to spray this clear. Now I understand what people say about Barry! Super Nice Guy, and very knowledgeable about not only his own products, but everyone else's too!

Enjoy spraying the clear.. It sprays really nice.. I have seen old timers liken the universal to lacquer clear as to how it sprays? Personally never sprayed any lacquer clear only primers so i cant comment on that..

Reckon its the best one to start with also in my opinion.. Its the most user friendly as JC pointed out.. Use the very slow activator and Ive heard many say it changes the clear completely in how it performs..

Happy Spraying

Only issue i had was quite a few fish eyes. I bought a new filtering system, hoses, desiccant filters at the gun, etc. Sprayed another brand clear with no fish eyes recently. Went back to universal clear on this one i just did, and the dang fish eyes are there again. Only other thing possible is the tack rag i used. I wish now I had broken out a brand new one (the one I used was used once) and really gave it the test. I wish I could just get this issue handled. I will test a another panel with new tack rag. If fish eyes are still present, then I gotta figure something else out. Am I the only one dealing with this fish eye issue? Compressor isn't that old and I haven't really had a issue with the fish eyes until switching to universal. Is it more likely to get fish eyes because of its hi solids content? Just trying to learn more about it. I like how the universal clear sprays and buffs, just wish for me it was a bit faster drying, as I am in a block building and I am guessing it really takes two days before I should be getting on it. A bit faster clear in the SPI line might work better for my production work. Barry mentioned a few I will need to ask about further.

Something is not right here, might be a weak activator? Can you call me today or Monday and see if we can figure this out, I would call you but not sure who this is as we ship a fair amount to MT.
