UV Clear over unsanded single stage

I've posted this before but I can't find it! I have cleared single stage many times with excellent results but I have always let it cure for a few days, sanded and cleared. I have been wanting to do the method of spraying single stage and clearing the next day without sanding. What single stage do you recommend? Any urethane? Should I use any accelerator or blocked accelerator to insure through cure on the single stage? I'm painting 1998 VW Beetle for a family member for free. Good time to experiment. I'm thinking Limco single stage urethane with two coat of UV. Is Limco too low end of this procedure? Remember it's for free....

Definitely go with a urethane, much more durable than enamel or lacquer.
Remember that urethanes are basically the same animal as most clearcoats.
So treat them the same.
When clearing over a metallic urethane it's best to let the color dry a little longer
so the metallic doesn't mottle, 3 hrs is not to long, that's what I wait.
And I'm told waiting overnight is fine. (without scuffing)
Some say urethane gives a richer color than basecoat, I seem to think so too.
It's definitely a more durable system, if a chip of clear comes off the urethane won't
start delaminating the clear like basecoat does. It's very chip resistant.
I don't think accelerator is needed any more than the clear needs it.

JC has it right, key to clearing any paint is first the paint must be activated (enamel) and rule of thumb is always let the paint set minimum of four hours before clearing and if done in 24 hours the single stage does not need to be sanded.
I have always said!!! forget the 4 hour rule and wait overnight, just to be safe because there are so many single stages and so many other factors decides the curing of that paint.

If a solid color and you want to wetsand first, does not matter if you do it the next day or a month later as long as car is not driven in that time.
