Valve Cover Painting

We would like to dress us the stock valve cover on my son's Jeep, we will be spraying SPI red then Universal Clear. Is there a way to highlight the raised lines on top of it?

I thinks it's done a lot on Ford valve covers. We've been using white epoxy as a sealer then the red base, could we wet sand the red off from the lines then clear over everything? I'm assuming it's an aluminum valve cover. Would the white sealer show if we sanded it from the lines, what grits should we use, etc... I'd rather not have to mask it if possible.

You guys have any suggestions?

Thanks, Steve

I've done that before. I shoot the valve cover. Then use a block with some 400 on it to just sand on top of the ribs. Then clean it all off. And then shoot my clear.

Will my epoxy primer show a faint line were I sand the base off, I have black and white epoxy? Would I be better off not priming/sealing it?

Thanks, Steve
