What finish should Epoxy have?

Since I am totally new I wanted to know what sort of finish I should realistically expect from Epoxy primer. I have been practicing spraying some old fenders and messing with my gun using all the information here. Does Epoxy dry somewhat rough or totally smooth, somewhere in between, etc etc. Just trying to make sure I am doing everything "right".
 
Some notes from talking to people that have problems.

Wall regulator should be min 125 if you have a 25 foot hose, 140 for a 50' air hose.
1.4 tip is best.
2.5 turns out on the fluid is about perfect for any gun.
Fan 70-80% wide open.
Air, DEPENDING on gun 18-28 lbs with trigger pulled.
HVLP. LPH or RP gun distance should be 5-6 inches from panel, for most newer guns, does not apply to the non compliant guns.

Thanks again Barry, I've been hesitant to waste too much of anyone's time since I have the dreaded HF Purple gun :)

Didn't relize you had to be that close. I thought 10-12"
 
Most of the newer guns are 5-6 inch guns, the old 22-29% efficient ones are 8-12" with no problem.
