when to wet sand universal clear

First timer. Finished laying 3 coats of spi universal clear on Friday. Can I wait a week before wet sanding. 1000 grit wet the best to start with before buffing. Thanks

Like Jim said, now since you have a week, in a perfect world you would pull the car out in sun for a full day or two.
Then wetsand and pull car in sun one more day.
Could cut you first round of buffing by about 50% time wise.

Thank you Jim and Barry. I have the car sitting in the sun all day today (Wednesday) and will try to get her back out there again Friday before proceeding to wet sanding on Saturday. Have to skip Thursday as they are calling for thunder showers. As discussed with Barry on the phone, I will tape up all my edges with 3/4" blue tape and start with 1000, go to 1500, and consider 3000 before buffing the following weekend or later. This is a great site and lots of credit goes out to the user-friendliness of the SPI Universal Clear as advertised. For a first timer on a car with lots of lines/edges, I only had two runs and it laid on nice and wet. Thanks Jose

I always get better results letting the clear cure up a bit, there are times though when you have to get on it asap and get it back in service...
For me it doesn't buff well when it's in the rubbery stage, sanding seems faster when it's soft but the scratch size can show up inconsistent and I would suspect if you zoomed in/magnified to look at the scratches you would see more irregular, jagged tearing instead of a clean consistent cut-ever try to remove a run when it's too soft?

You are right and Black Dark Blue and Dark green are the worst because they slow the clear down, one day is sun, is worth 7-10 days in the shop as far as curing.

Why sand and then let the car sit for days in the sun before buffing? Would this also apply to UV Clear that's been in 90 degree heat and sunshine for over a week?

Thanks

90 degrees in the sun for over a week- It will sand and buff nice. A sanded surface does breathe better though.
