There will always be some peel. Look at some of the newer cars.
Jim, you just bought a brand new 911S turbo?yeah, i just took delivery of a brand new porsche 911 turbo s. as expensive as that car is, there is peel in it. not like a ford truck but it is there. only way to be 100% peel free is to sand and buff. as chris said though, the lighter you spray the more peel but spray too heave to make if flow out and you end up with the urethane wave. its a fine line
my 2017 silverado is terrible. There will always be some peel. Look at some of the newer cars.
Chris i am thinking i sprayed too heavy, combined with not enough air pressure. i do have a tendency to heavy coat.Just to be clear true orange peel is too little material or not enough overlap or a combination of the two. Texture from too much material is not orange peel. Not sure what you call it but it's not orange peel.
Like Lizer said, ,more overlap, less fluid, faster passes, increased air pressure, is the cure for texture from spraying heavy. Easier to spray faster and tighter (overlap) than it is to spray slower. Much easier IMO.
Some days you feel like a nut, some days you don't.
which year z06 did you have?yeah delivered just 2 days ago. first thing i did was look all over their paint job on it lol. def some peel. not terrible. looks good for a production car i guess. i sold my z06 that i had for the past 5 years and moved up to that. i really couldnt bring myself to get a new c8. i love mid engine cars but i am really not liking the new one. not sure exactly what it is.
I’ve had my 02 Z06 since new. i still get tempted by the C7s when I run across them for sale. Like you, not a fan of the latest generation for some reason.2018
Jim you are my hero.yeah, i just took delivery of a brand new porsche 911 turbo
That thing you just bought is a missile. 0-60 times in the mid 2 second range. Do you plan to drive it much? I am most definitely jealous. You deserve it though. Hope you have a lot of fun with it not just look at it in the garage.i loved the car for the 5 years i had it. it was great but it was time to go and get something new. while corvettes are nice, i have had 3, compared to some other makes that gm are competing against now they are just plasticky and kinda cheap inside. a bit squeaky as well because of that. they have gotten a bit better over the years though. from a performance aspect though... they are fast, perform really well and the performance/price ratio is about the best you can get.
sorry to the op. this thread got a little sidetracked.
The panel fit and metal stamping was probably better, so they could have a better paint finish because of that. I think that is why GM and Ford have orange peel, to cover things up.my 2017 silverado is terrible.
my nephew showed up in his 2023 tesla plaid. black. and i was really impressed with the finish on that car. it was really nice. it has that full glass roof, and u could barely tell where the roof stopped and the glass roof started. definately a much nicer finish than anything GM or ford produces.
