1941 chrysler coupe build

Classic tombstones. Did you modify the housings? I remember them being deeper and mounted with a gasket.

The housings were made from scratch. I tossed the chrome part of the lights away.
Kept the little chrome trims and the lenses only. Had some 11 gauge s/s front rims laser cut so I won't need paint on the very front piece. The chrome has to fit over snuggly. Paint would screw that up for sure.

You sir win "Fabricator Of The Month" with this entry, hands down !!! The thought, time and precision to make that blows my mind, and all by hand to boot.

Now to pick your brain, Is this the skeletal frame that will be used to shape the sheet metal for the hoods skin, or...........is this the inner structure of the hood before skinning with sheet metal? If this is the skeletal frame to shape the sheet metal skin, will these be an inner structure for the sheet metal skin to sit on?

Thanks.

The buck is only to aid in making the hood panels.
The inner structure will be made to fit the hood? This part is unclear now. It would seem that I need the inner structure first and make the hood to fit.............chicken and the egg........I've never made a hood before.

I was thinking to leave the hood build for now and toss the car together for testing. Strap the buck to the car and go to some local cruise ins.

I guess mechanical stuff needs to be installed as well. I got the DS panel made up but how to get the the upper rad hose thru? How to fill the rad?

This gonna look good..............

A beauty s/s disc tacked to the top of the rad cap and all will be good.................

No?..................how about hide it at the back corner? No one will look there when the hood is up.......................

Damn, they might look...........a decorative box? And the icing, the decorative s/s cap cover is back................

Yep, that's it.

.

Lousy welding? No problem when a guy has SPI Epoxy on the shelf. And a wee bit of Bondo is handy also..........
