1963 427 Galaxie

Rusty the 427 is just beautiful, careful with those foreign cars, never know what you might get into with them. LOL

Thanks for the info Rusty. Seeing your work really motivates me. I cant wait to see how the Fairlane comes out because thats what I have.

lol! thats the way i feel working on the fords! i have 3 in the shop now....used to be filled with mopars and chevys!

looking good!

I used to call my shop Classic Mustangs and I had a 67 Camaro, 64 Malibu SS and a 52 Chevy pick up in the shop. The only Mustang was my 69 race car.

Is there any other black single stage?

I've got a gallon tucked away for a rainy day, definately one of the darkest blacks out there!

Thank you but I don't think we are fast. We started this project Feb 2008 but the owner had us stop working on it a couple of times and than sold it. It probably sat untouched for over a 1 1/2 years.

It's to cold where you live for me.

We need to work on Barry to bring it back. I have about a 1 1/2 gals left.

Rusty,

What an amazing transformation! I'm trying to pull off something very similar, and I'd be thrilled if my car comes out anywhere close to that good.

I have couple questions for you...

Is that bed liner inside the truck? Would you recommend bed liner for the underside of my 34 Chevy fenders, or something else?

I really like how you explained the steps you used in the blocking process. Would you mind giving a beginner some guidance?

Here is what I did on my 34 so far. I'll bet that Slick Sand would have saved me some work.

1. Sandblast and 2 coats of epoxy
2. Filler and more epoxy
3. 2 coats of Turbo, guide coat, block with 180
4. 2 coats of Turbo, guide coat, block with 320
5. 2 coats of reduced epoxy (to finish the car temporarily to use in my wedding)

What do you recommend to get ready for base? The large flat areas should be really close to perfect (as far as I can tell anyway). I have a little work to do on the beads above the doors, a couple little dings down low, and some sanding scratches to get out.

All we use is SPI bedliner and I would use it under your fenders.

My Fairlane

I would wet sand with 400 and epoxy again

Should I guidecoat first, or go by the gloss of the epoxy? What kind of block should I use for wetsanding? I use a 16" yellow foam block for most stuff, but that's too long for wet/dry paper.

Great job Rusty, that car turned out awesome!Thats one big car to get straight, keep up the great work. Joe

Yet again, I've referred myself back to one of your threads to learn something, Rusty. This time though I have a question if you don't mind? How much of the SS black did you use to get 6 coats? I know the panels are big on the Galaxie but I would think it would be close or maybe a tad more to what I would need to use on my 69 Mustang fastback.
Thanks!
