1968 Mustang Coupe Restomod

We took it to a car show last Saturday and had a lot of positive remarks and some said to keep it this way. One guy asked me if it was real and I didn't know what he was talking about until he asked if the body came from Ford.

Saturday we went to the Mustang Club of Tampa's 30th annual car show. When we left the shop at 6:30 it was raining and finally stopped around 10:30. At first it looked like we would have a bad turn out but I was surprised when the weather cleared the cars kept rolling in.

Do you tend to get more people looking over this car than the finished cars.. I bet they find it to be interesting to see a work in progress.

We had a crowd around the car all day I could not walk around and look at cars.

We have showed a few things in progress and it sure does get more attention. Heck maybe you are better off not finishing this one.. :) lol jk.

Rusty, did you bring some before photos or in progress photos to show your level of rebuilding skills?

Yes I had a small album with different projects but all my good pictures are in the computer

I plan on using the stock grille and chrome trim so I modified the stone guard than bonded it to the Maier front end.

It is hard to tell in this picture but the nose is to wide at the top so I cut off both sides

Another problem is the bottom brackets hung down over an 1" from the frame rail so I cut them off and bolted them to the frame

Next I used fiberglass mat and resin to reattach. When this sets up I will take it off and add more to the other side.

I got a package today from UPS and I was surprised to find these in the box. I can't wait to install these great looking hinges.

I have those same hinges for a 62 impala we are working on. As I'm told by that company we had the first ones shipped out....and they are the only company that offers them for a 62, as far as I know.

Haven't installed them yet, but they look really great.

Very nice!!
How do they compare to ring brothers hinges?

I have not had the Ring Brothers hinges in my hand to compare but the EMS quality is very good and they are cheaper. The owner of the 65 Viper Red fastback we painted bought a set of Ring Brother hinges and he had to modify them a little to get his hood to fit right.

They do look nice though, reason I asked about ring brothers is because I was looking at them at the parts store the other day. they make mostly camaro parts though.

EMS makes a lot of parts for Camaro's and other Chevy's

Making new fiberglass ends for the front end.

I taped a piece of aluminum on there for a pattern than added two pieces of fiberglass mat

The next day I carefully removed the aluminum

I added more material to the back side than sanded a little and this is the first test fit. It's getting closer to what I want. I still need to reshape the spoiler.
