Remember we need pictures. I bet you are excited, I sure would be with a 2 month paid vacation to work on my personal car. I'm jealous.

As you wish.

Sabbatical Day 4

As you can see above, the weather here was a bit cold today. The ice and sleet hung around all day.

IMG_20140206_073416.jpg

The good things I got done today:

Clean up and polish windshield molding and other trim
Install rear deck tray and test for space for sub
Finished striping paint from egg crates, wiper door, corner moldings.
Blasted hood support
Fixed hood frame alignment

The bad things:
I broke the original dash pad today. Anyone know if this can be fixed?
IMG_20140206_193256.jpg

Noticed that the trip odometer is showing mileage, however the main odometer is not moving. It looks like I'll have to drop the steering column again and pull the dash again and see what's wrong with it.

Here are some more pics of what I got done.

New sub-woofer fits with the rear window tray installed.

I've been using Citri-Strip to strip the paint from these parts and panels.
Supposedly, all I need to do to neutralize it is wash it off with water. Does anyone have experience with using it before applying SPI products?

Thanks

Day 9

Day 9
The Lord Fusor 127EZ that I had turned out to be 4 years old, but it only had a shelf life of two years.
It was still soft and gooey after 18 hours. I spend several hours on the phone calling every shop in San Antonio. I found a couple that had the Fusor 127EZ, however, theirs was expired also. I finally found one that was still good for another month. Then I spent the next several hours cleaning off the old stuff.

Find new adhesive
Pull apart hood frame and hood - adhesive didn't setup
Clean off bad adhesive
rebond hood frame and hood
Pull speedo console again to fix odometer
Drill door hinges for alignment holes
Pull doors off
Strip rest of primer off of headlight buckets
Sand the top of the engine bay header strip

And new pictures as promised from the last couple of days.

I had a bubble form under one part of the door. I sanded it down with 180 and was planing to clean it with the water-based wax and grease remover before applying more epoxy.

IMG_20140227_202846.jpg

Is this the correct procedure in this case or is there something else I should do?

Also, when I applied the body filler (Rage Extreme) and started sanding it, I broke through to the fiberglass and metal in some areas.

IMG_20140227_202606.jpg

I'm assuming I should reapply the epoxy over it, correct?

Thanks

I would block everything, clean and apply another coat of epoxy, wait overnight and apply your high build, or just keep applying 3 coats of epoxy as shine does and never use any high build....either way gives long lasting results...just remember NEVER apply ANYTHING over CURED epoxy (3 days max in my opinion) except epoxy....Dave
