A100 Twins

Jim, did you use that on the glass run piller between the vent window and side window? on my sons truck, they painted it blue too. ill have to sand that off and paint it black. thought about epoxy but not sure it will hold up.

Another exciting day of media blasting. I hate to reuse front end components but since all you can get is the drag link from rare parts for $690 the original only had about 50,000 miles and is super tight so I cleaned it inside and out removed all the grease and will repack it with new dust seals. Pulled the wiper system apart, I’ll show why wiper switches and motors shorted out on these early Prestolite systems when I rewire it.

Also, cleaned up and located all the holes for the chrome. This is just leftovers I had for templates the real stuff still at the chrome plater.

$690.00 for a drag link..... you can kiss my big white a##.

Absolutely ridiculous. Glad to hear you had one to work with.

Bunch of tinkering, polishing and test fitting. Also painted the grill but it got hailed on before the clear set up and I missed a few dents. Needs a bit more work but new hardware worked. The headlight trim hardware not so much, another order to McMaster Carr coming. Also, the headlight adjusters are exactly like my 66 Valiant! So I have some ShapeWay parts I created to replace them! Order them too. Looks like I need a bit more blackout behind the grill.

i know the jobber headlight adjusters are junk. usually break them installing. nice touch on the behind grill black out, many miss that.

Would you say the SPI Orange is "orange orange" or closer to like a mopar charger red? Red with some orange.. some of the pics look more reddish... I've never done basecoat/clear. Did you say you can sand a small spot and just airbush in a correction of the base?

I’m not gonna try to compare it to another “well known color“ since I’m not sure what those colors are really supposed to look like. In person, it always looks orange, but the camera tends to pick up more of the red in it the correction question ends up becoming a discussion on. Can you blend in the clear and not have it fail in the future. I don’t have enough long-term experience to answer that question. I know I’ve done it on some of my other cars, but they spend their life in the garage for the most part.

Thank you. I was curious about repairing the base before clear. I read the tech guide, it seems like you can sand a small spot, shoot base just over that area before clearing the whole thing. I used single stage on my last project but I want to try basecoat/clearcoat on a 69 Dart I am doing. I will be spraying outside most likely, like you. I tried a homemade booth last time and it was just too cramped.

That is no problem with this orange little blend and you’d never know the difference the question becomes is how much of the panel do you re-clear. Can you spot the clear or should you really re-clear the entire panel? The latter is the right way to do it.
