Fixing a chip in BC/CC

Dean curious how the chip happened. My buddy chipped his 68 fastback in the same spot by over tightening the header to the fender.

To align the front bumper, I gave the frame horn a few "Love taps" with a hammer.
Bumper lined up nicely, but it moved the fender just a bit and I didn't realize that.
Closed the hood and it hit the fender lip and made it flex.
Chip happened a few inches from the contact point, but it was the flexing that caused the chip, best I can tell, as it happened right where the fender lip is attached to the header panel.
Hope that makes sense.

Man what a bummer. Hate to hear. I always tell people that painting a car is easy, it's putting it back together without mishaps that's then hard part.

I'm 61 years old and try not to be a wus, but was close to tears. All that work...
You understand.
I'm encouraged by all the suggestions that it will be an easy fix and look fine.

I use these for most touch ups. They come in various sizes.

I concur with @Barry for using a sword brush. I had very good luck using one of those to push my fill paint where I wanted it to go in the chip depression. Almost all formed sheet metal edges have inadequate radius on them to hold film forming coatings under flexing or moderate impact.
Reproduction automotive panels are some of the worst. They are made to sell--not to use. In chips--I tend to use more epoxy for filler to gain any potential chemical bond advantage and use a minimal color/clear amount

What do you do when the paint or touch ups are darker? Say silver metallic birch,GM colour.Doing touch ups from the same can that you sprayed are darker.
