To align the front bumper, I gave the frame horn a few "Love taps" with a hammer.Dean curious how the chip happened. My buddy chipped his 68 fastback in the same spot by over tightening the header to the fender.
Man what a bummer. Hate to hear. I always tell people that painting a car is easy, it's putting it back together without mishaps that's then hard part.To align the front bumper, I gave the frame horn a few "Love taps" with a hammer.
Bumper lined up nicely, but it moved the fender just a bit and I didn't realize that.
Closed the hood and it hit the fender lip and made it flex.
Chip happened a few inches from the contact point, but it was the flexing that caused the chip, best I can tell, as it happened right where the fender lip is attached to the header panel.
Hope that makes sense.

I used that pen to paint some dash moldings and it worked good. Unreduced.Questions for the Pros.
1. When fixing chips do you reduce the base coat?
2. Also have any of you used a fluid pen like this:

When I talked with Barry, he said to not reduce the base. His suggestion was to shake the can and then dab paint off of the lid.Questions for the Pros.

I did this method last week when I installed the dash moldings on my car. I had missed a spot that was behind the hook when I painted. I used a q tip. And it works perfectWhen I talked with Barry, he said to not reduce the base. His suggestion was to shake the can and then dab paint off of the lid.
