I've been using that same set-up for a little over 20 years. I'm curious how long you've been using your hooks so I can tell if you stole my idea or I stole yours? I have 4 rods 3' long and 4 at 5' long. 10' ceiling.i never had any stands for anything. i always hung everything. this way i can spray 360deg around everything. i have these heavy washers welded to the ceiling everywhere in a grid pattern then i made 3' long hooks from 1/8" rod. a hook bent on each end. this brings the lower end of the hook a little higher than head height. i can hook the washers anywhere i want. i can throw some lock wire loops on whatever parts i want to hang then just put them up on the hooks. its the most versatile way to do it i think. you can basically hang anything you want in any location or orientation.
The wooden stands, dollies etc are handy cause you can send screws, fasteners, etc anywhere you need in them to hold parts. And easy to build. Got Eric O. On the tv nice! He’s good entertainment and a great mechanic. And from my neck of the woods the good old prny haha. And hey the tires are still flat on the Trail Blazer lol.I have all kinds of stands. I really like the Astro stands, but I build stands of needed. Biggest deal for me is to be able to move parts around so I dont have to leave cars outside when I completely over book myself like I always do.

I even clamp them together when needed.
