Simple green?

I always wash my cars and parts before going into the booth. Have always used dawn dish soap. Have been fighting fisheyes on dealer work. Is simple green ok to use? Then I always wash thoroughly with 710 and 700 before epoxy sealer and paint.

If you are asking if simple green will clean better than dawn in regards to fisheyes then my answer would be no. And there would be more risk to the surfaces it goes on. Use more Dawn in your bucket before you do anything else. Plus you are going over it with both 700 and 710. I would be looking elsewhere for those fisheyes. Someone in the shop using a silicone product? Contaminated wipes? Fallout from a nearby business? Could be a host of things.

Are you cleaning the tires as well? Dealer stuff with tires soaked in Armor-All or other silicone dressing will cause the panel to fisheye. Clean those tires well. Simple Green would work well for that.

Think on the last one it was trapped between the fender liner. Work has us doing pretty cheap repairs on then with not much time.pretty much bag and mask no r&i i really soaped it up with dawn on the one one and I just did after having fisheye problems cleaned ridiculously with wax and grease and water borne no fish eyes this time .

If you’re using simple green, I recommend Castrol degreaser.
They are both sodium hydroxide based but Castrol is much higher strength and can be diluted to any strength you desire. Keep it away from aluminum.
Chemistry is not in my purview, but I’d stay with Dawn, or whatever is recommended, unless is just wasn’t cutting it. No pun intended.
I’ve used isopropyl alcohol on heavier stuff followed by 700 in hopes of conforming to the recommended guidelines. Hopefully

Simple Green is not NaOH-based. It doesn’t actually even contain any NaOH.

the zep purple degreaser would be similar to castrol but you can get it in 5's from home depot for under 40 bucks. its super cheap buying this way. its the best thing for use on tires. an occasional wash of the car with it is ok too. spray it on and powerwash it off. removes bugs, tar, dirt, wax, silicone. pretty much everything. i keep it in a pump sprayer here and use it for everything. like lizer said, no sod hyd in simple green. maybe i have been using zep for too long because any time i have used simple green i am a bit underwhelmed. hand soap seem stronger lol.

I stand corrected…must have been something else I used

Yeah there are a ton of hydroxide based cleaner degreasers out there so god only knows what one you were using. I have just found the zep purple to be cheapest and easiest to get since its right at home depot
