SS vs BC/CC

Necessity is the mother of invention.
It seems that painting procedures and equipment stayed the same for a long time. Someone mentioned the starvation aspect of disposable cups, but how would you like spraying hoods all day with a siphon feed gun. Well, I guess the necessity was there, but they needed legislation to make changes.

As much as we hate legislation, still it does bring change. I have heard that big rig diesels are so clean now, that mechanics can run them in a closed door shop without an exit pipe on the exhaust stack. I'm not sure if I believe that.

Here is a interesting article that I ran across. Maybe some of the older folks can confirm or deny some of the points the author makes.

That whole article is BS. We had a thread on it some time ago.

Ever seen a new diesel do a regen? Nothing clean about that. The emissions BS is a sham.

i have always hated GF guns. i prefer a siphon gun anytime. especially when shooting Metallics and such. i still have my ball bearings in my kit. with a siphon gun i don't have to empty it every time i shoot.

I just read the article. I have to agree. Very little of it is accurate.

As far as BC/CC goes, I just painted the back half of my ‘36 Ford Roadster which was painted with SS PPG Concept 20 years ago. After fighting (and thankfully winning) a color match problem, I can assure you I will never paint a car again with SS.

If only I could have done a blend. ‍

On the tech line, I talk to professional painters every day from Canada, Newfoundland, the USA, and to Trinidad.

I dont believe this guy is a painter as I have never talked to one that did not know paint????
This guy does not know about paint, from EPA, rules, lead, or Isos, and the difference between the types.
Everything sounds like he rewrote something he read online before.

I agree Barry, from the start I was thinking how can this guy get so many things wrong? I couldn't even finish the article, I can't imagine he's done much actual painting. It reads like someone who's read everything on the subject but really knows nothing about it, like doing a high school book report.
