My Allison tranny is out just rebuilt. I am re-doing the truck, blasting the frame, bodywork etc. over the next few months. Tranny is clean (steamed) but case is not blasted, it is aluminum of course. I am thinking I should paint the tranny now, and coat the floor from below while it is accessible. Any ideas?
I mentioned the lightest silver because that is what color I would like to paint the wheels and I might as well try it out on the transmission (and the PTO and pump). What is a realistic way to prep everything? I am assuming that white epoxy is step one, and I would prefer SS for the ease of things.
This is a work truck, but my standards are pretty high, moreso for the longevity than a concours appearance.
The truck is a crew with a Plumbers Body the size of a small barn, so it is going to take a lot of paint... I am not using the silver on the truck or body, maybe on accent striping. Thanks for the help. I need to start getting this thing back together next weekend.
