No, not a hack at all. Just a very different and challenging type of work, I did not know it could even be made to work.

Having an IR lamp makes a lot of sense, I am doubting it's possible without it?

Perhaps it's me that considers myself a hack and I am trying to convince myself otherwise. My goal is to do bodyshop type work. Ok, I'll get over myself.

I use a med. wave lamp. Today, 18deg., silver, got area up to 90deg with the lamp. If it was a dark color, I wouldn't need the lamp so much. Water ran down it after 45min. or so and no damage. Remember, this work is on dealer stuff. They want it to get off the lot and forget about it. It's not easy to accept but if they are happy then I am. I am sure that many of you consider me a hack and that may be true but I am delivering a service that meets the expectations of my customers.

No way you are a hack. I admire your perseverence. What you are able to accomplish outside is outstanding. I'm setting in my shop and have the thermostat set at 60 and I have on 3 shirts.

This last part of that post is what makes you NOT a hack. Lot jobs are demanding!! There are about 239028790432843294 million car lots around my shop, and there are shops that specifically specialize in lot work and make a good living. Mobile ones, like yourself, havent really been common here BUT in the last few years i've seen them popping up here and there. The little collision repair that i do in the shop, sometimes i cant stand it leaving the way it looks. Not that it looks bad i just want to spend as much time as i do on the resto jobs and you just cant do that in insurance collision work and expect to make money off it. It comes in spurts and it helps pays the bills so gotta do it.
