1960 IMPALA CONVERTIBLE BIG PROJECT

Took the day off from work and got the backsides of fenders and skirts in tinted raptor. Got the sid stripe paint. Plan to paint that Sunday, clear it. Let it sit for a week.....then mask and painted the car next weekend. Yeah buddy

Took some advice from Texas King and seal base clear the stripe today. Let it sit for a week and mask. I may not respond to everything but I spend alot of time reading.

Big day yesterday. Started at 6a and didn't stop til 6p. Had 3 guys to help. Alpt of work in 1 day. Everything is in 600 masked, and staged. Sealing it tonight

What a day. Wow. After I sealed it at 9pm, went inside as usual. Trying to doze off, neighbor decided its a good time to let loose on about 10 rounds for labor day. So I was up again. Going on 3 hrs of sleep, 3 of my friends after driving an hr one way showed up at 5am. And we got busy. 3 coats of base with the dv1, and 3 coats of spi euro clear with 1.4 lph400, we ended up with 2 oz of left over clear...talk about cutting it close....debating on flow coat, but, the 60 is painted 2 tone, and the astros put a whooping on rangers today. Good day. Thank you

It was mentioned earlier that the DV1 was used and the metallic had no mottling or splotchyness.
May I ask what needle and cap size did you use? I see they sell a DV1 base gun and a DV1 clear coat gun. Buying 2 guns is cost prohibitive for many of us , did you use the same gun for bc and cc?

Hi. Thanks for tuning in. I used the dv1 basecoat with built in regulator. I dont know much about it so I went with the middle of the road 1.3 tip. It comes with 1.2 1.3 and 1.4..sprayed it about about 16 psi. But one thing I noticed is my wrist/hand area kept brushing up on the air control at bottom of gun and changing the psi. Next time need to tape it to itself.

For clear we used lhp400 1.4 silver, 30 psi. Part 2 of paint job will post at 7am tomorrow

Did you do both the underside and inside in Raptor? Did you use the tintable raptor? How much did you end up using? I bought their higher end gun when I did inside the doors since I wanted to do the underside and inside of my T-bird.
