1960 IMPALA CONVERTIBLE BIG PROJECT

It has been 100 degrees in the shop all week over here in small town Texas. I put 12hrs in blocking on the hood after 40hrs at the job, chipping away. . It was 116 on the porch...out of control..

Yep still 100 degrees. And getting worse. But I got the fenders mocked up and the rocker molding holes drilled. I think that's the last of the hole drilling department. I got the trunk lid on. In going to do a little filler over gaps but not much . Just needs a little helping..the fenders arent bolted down low yet. I hadnt used the black diamonds on the shell yet. Looking forward to 180 with those...then featherfill the whole thing.. Overall pretty happy

Well I got the shell and doors in 180 and then I sprayed 2 coats of epoxy on Sunday morning 7am. This morning (48hr later) I went straight to feather fill. 2 quarts was the perfect amount. I might have had an ounce leftover...so now it's in 2 full coats of poly primer. Going to let that sit for a while. Need to bring the fenders and hood up to speed...2k the dash and firewall. Do some work in the trunk etc. Take advantage of this 100 degree and let it cure

Looks fantastic!

I too have the Air Gunsa and thought it sprayed great on my last little project. Well worth the asking price for the gun, imho.

Yep. It's pretty good. Sprays high build primer nice

While I have your attention and since you used G2. Do you know if the G2 is water/moisture proof?

I've been going back and forth between using Clausen or G2. I know the Clausen is water/moisture proof but, I can't find that information concerning G2.

Hadn't updated in a few weeks but the work hasn't stopped....all panels have been in G2 and I've got some sunmight 220....2k regular primer showed up today. Along with the clear. I have scheduled the week of labor day holiday off from the job. The plan is to get it painted that week

Last weekend I smeared some duraglass on the inside of the quarters where the welded patch panels were. And DA it down and got them in some primer. Test fit the trunk mat and it's like nothing ever happened

And lastly , I took a load to get some chrome plating done. Chrome plating prices are thru the roof these days...

Bumpers, hood lip, door handles, and some valves.

Another hot one today. Had the day off from work. Got started early and hit the doors and fender with their final prime. It was 75 degrees at 6am. The regular build 2k laid out nice with a 2.0 tip. I dont think I'll be priming in the evenings anymore. Makes it too much work to sand. Too hot. Kept going and blocked the hood, and half of the shell. I'd like to have everything in final prime in the next couple days.
