1960 IMPALA CONVERTIBLE BIG PROJECT

Got the hood in 2k. Sprayed it at 6am and it laid out silky smooth.. then I put about 6hrs on the passenger side and trunk with the black diamonds and 220. I have about 2 linear feet of 220 left and had just enough wg remover afterwards. Going to 2k it tomorrow early again.

Good day yesterday. Got the top side of floor pans in raptor and picked up my batch from the chrome shop. Not letting me attached pictures for some reason

I'm going full speed on this thing now. I have booked a mobile convertible top installer for the first week of November. He travels all over the country and installs convertible tops I unboxed the top the other day to confirm some things

I have a story to go with that top.i knew what I wanted. Gm medium green A6742 haartz pinpoint vynil. ..of course it was back ordered since before covid. Was told it wasn't coming back because no new cars come with this color. So I bought my 2nd option which is a dark Forrest green German canvas top...fast forward about 4 months ago and I was at work sitting around and it just randomly popped in my head "I wonder if that a6742 ever came back in stock ". I hadn't thought about a top since I bought the canvas top, I had closed out that chapter....during lunch that day I go out and check my phone and I have an email from the manufacturer saying it's back in stock.....how does that happen? Random thought in my head, and resulted in an email that same day, so I ordered it. Now I'm stuck with a dark green canvas that I no longer want. Only fits 59/60 GM cars....might be a while until it sells...this is what the medium green looks like installed.

The last batch of chrome plating for this car..the lone star dealer badge was given to me over 15yrs ago. I've been holding on to it since then waiting for a special car...I'm going to put it on then conti kit faceplate. Vintage dealer tags are kind of a thing on lowriders. Felix the cat is a big one.

One thing to note about raptor that I learned today....I had 3 jugs left over....I knew it wasn't enough for the floors so I ordered 2 more with a new gun. 5 jugs total should be plenty. I'm mixing and my buddy is spraying. He goes through 1st jug way too fast. I pass him the 2nd one and he burns thru it before I'm done mixing the 3rd. We are 2 jugs down and only.covered about 15% of the floors. That isn't right. ....look at the gun and the texture and the nozzle is huge. Lucky.my buddy brought his upol brand gun with him. I had to mix and reduce and stretch the remaining jugs to make it enough .....long story short I think raptor is sending guns with over sized nozzles so they can sell more material.....

Not related to my build but it's not everyday that a 59 with original paint pulls up to house, ready to work on your 60 and your friends 62. It was a good day today. This car is a true time capsule.

Put some paint on the dash this morning. Got started at 7 and finished up at 845. The dv1 worked as it should. The fan is massive compared to what in used to. Sprayed it at 18psi. And then 3 rounds or euro 4 1 1 with the lph 1.4 cap 30 psi

Worked on under hood and trunk the past few days. I literally gave both about an hr of time with the 400 grit ...sealed it 25% reduced and 2 coats of color 30 mins later. 30 mins after that I slammed 1 heavy coat of euro. I really wanted to see it solvent pop, run, or do something. It didn't do anything...crazy how almost no prep comes out fine....but sitting there over thinking gets you in trouble...much like baseball.
