New SATA 5000

Hey guys. I just bought a sata 5000 off ebay from a company in italy. Just got it today and it checked out legit on satas website. Total with shipping was just over $400

Wow, that's a lot less then mine cost and we are set up as jobber pricing from WD.
The thing that bugged me the most is you have to pay big bucks for the aluminum cup that does not come with the gun, guess they want you to use the bag system they sell. Not!

I know! I'll stick with my 3m pps cups lol. They have a 1000b for primer that i want to grab its around $200 something. Shipping only took 3 days from italy lol

I've been really thinking about trying one of these new guns, I've been hearing a lot of good things about them.. I still like my Iwata but it sounds like the new sata is awesome as well.

However the new pricing makes me think twice.

I got the SATA 5000 RP with a 1.4 and it's a hoser, so much that I might eventually get a 1.3 nozzle set.

I like it when I want to shoot a complete with a bit of a factory peel to it, and well the time savings are nice too. Way faster than the Iwata LPH W400 and the Supernova WS400 HD.

For a nicer slick finish I still get better results with the
Supernova WS400 HD.

I have a supernova and haven't had a ton of luck with it.. I typically use a W400 for clear. I don't paint as much as I use to so it's hard to compare guns like I was able to when I was painting on a daily/weekly basis.

Yes i have a 4000 RP with a 1.4. You have to be pretty quick with it or else it puts too much on. I got the 5000 RP with a 1.3

HD it's just short for "high delivery" nozzle. Sounds kinda stupid to be honest. But I don't know if there's such a thing as a regular WS400 that precedes the WS400 EVO HD. Iwata really f*ed up with so many different versions of the Supernova gun and confusing names. I just know it sprays faster than the regular LS400.

Barry, now that i have a 1.3 tip, will i have trouble spraying UV clear? Ive never sprayed with a tip lower than a 1.4

I don't think you will, my fluid on the 1.4 is 1/2 to 1 turn out, I have never had a gun that I had to choke in so much.
I would think with the 1.3 you would be in the normal range of 2.5 to 2.3/4 out on the fluid.

Steve
Did you have to pay the $49change shipping? What did you check on Sata's web site?

Yes unfortunately for over seas shipping its pretty cheap.
On the box there is a hologram that has 2 scratch off strips. Scratch off either one the top one is the dealer. And go to sata website and type tge number in where it says SAL and it will tell you if its genuine

Thanks Steve
I bit. Further down the list on Ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/251796640723 it was 364 Euro and 42 Euro ship. Looks like about $20 US less, $442.67 total shipped. Either way best price I've ever seen. From what Jorge M. and Barry mentioned (1.4 a hoser) I think the 1.3 nozzle will be OK.

Nice. Didnt see that. Mine was priced in pounds but im looking at tge 100 B for primer. Ive been using my 4000 for epoxy and would rather keep that and the 5000 strictly base clear guns

i have a 100b. got it years ago when if first came out. awesome primer gun. cant recommend that one enough.

awesome what fluid tip do you recommend Jim?

I bought one a few months ago from the same seller. Great communications. They emailed me said it would be the next week before it shipped. I had the option to cancel, but I said I would wait. It did ship the following week and I remember I received it fairly quickly for it to be from over seas. I went with the 1.3, but haven't tried it yet.
