Metallics lay out better with slow or very slow SPI reducer imho.Ok Thanks for all the feedback...a little more than I was expecting...
The base is HOK -----@--------- Silver, so I figure 3 coats using medium reducer. It must be cleared within 4 hours, so then 5 coats of Euro using slow activator and slow reducer. It should be about 80 degrees.
Da wet wet is actually a thing...If you take your car to a shop and you look on the paint bench and you see "Da Wet Wet" or some other dollar store clear sitting there, kindly just walk right back out the door you entered!
That has also been my experience.Metallics lay out better with slow or very slow SPI reducer imho.

I was concerned about applying 8 coats of paint in a 7-8 hour time period so that's why I was thinking medium reducer for the base.Metallics lay out better with slow or very slow SPI reducer imho.

This may not be concern especially if surface temps are warm. Slow reducer allows thinner coats to be applied, and thinner coats give up their solvent quicker even though it's slower. I personally do not recommend 870 in a metallic unless temps are cool, it's been my experience that it just doesn't work well with the basecoat I use.I was concerned about applying 8 coats of paint in a 7-8 hour time period so that's why I was thinking medium reducer for the base.
This could be a problem, BUT only part im quaified to answer as not a custom painter is !!I was concerned about applying 8 coats of paint in a 7-8 hour time period so that's why I was thinking medium reducer for the base.
If it does I am in trouble, lolI didn't think Shimrin 2 had to be re-coated that quickly. I'd like to know why they say that. One thing you may want to try Ken is using an intercoat after the last coat of base. If it has to be re-coated, spray a single coat of inter then clear the next day.
Maybe Jim C can weigh in on this.
