You couldn’t be more right on all of it. I hope he chimes in when he feels ready.

Great pics of guide coat….does water wash it off? I’ve never used the powder.

Seems odd he would not announce that himself

1962 impala quarter panel to center filler panel seam

Sounds right, all 55-57s I’ve worked on had lead. Never have touched a 58-60.

1962 impala quarter panel to center filler panel seam

Just completed quarters on a 62, and was lucky enough not to have to replace that center section, made the cut about half an inch to the outside of it and butt welded quarter there. There was a visible seam from the factory that had some kind of seam sealer in it, most definitely not leaded or...

If you can’t wait for shipping and have a ppg place local, just buy a quart of dt885. You’ll be safe.

1970 Chevy Truck code 506 availability or code

Chad’s did look into it and no luck. My body shop friend with metalux bank did call his tech guy and they had no answer except sherwin like crash said. I did exactly as suggested and got 4oz and going to do a spray out then go play camera. Thanks everyone

1970 Chevy Truck code 506 availability or code

I’m looking to do an all over on a 72 in this color. Our forum Chad who has hooked me up many times can’t mix this in motobase, and my body shop friend with a metalux mixing bank has zero info either. Other codes are Dark Olive/Dark Green poly 506 WE5185 Ppg 2207 dupont 42770 Those are my 2...

Getting euro 2020 to lay slicker

Go up to 4:1:1.5., believe it or not less fluid and faster with more overlap will give you slicker with Euro. And definitely go up to 1.4. Try upper 20s for psi at gun, study shop forums about not having a wall regulator till gun, or at least having it wide open.

    76 K5 Blazer

Very nice, did you fix those bed sides or get different ones? I’m elbow deep in 2 1st gen blazers right now…..

DA for sanding before flow coats

Is anyone doing this? I’ve always done it by hand with 800 when doing 3 coats then three more. But wondering why 6 or 800 on an interface pad would not work just fine. 3 coats of euro on, putting 3 of universal on top. Euro is a week old.

    95 F350 dually fenders repair/respray

I’m gonna disagree and say sand ‘‘em and epoxy only, 2 coats under filler and whatever it takes on top. Best and simplest way. Epoxy has worked miracles for me on fiberglass and plastic.

    The Definitive SPI Epoxy Guide

I believe most of the confusion is from different wait times when using it as a sealer reduced 50 or 25 or 10%. Can change from base in an hour or 24 hrs depending. Hard to put that in a tech sheet

    Sanded through blocking 2K

I have struggled with this and asked Barry his advice. He says if it’s a spot of metal that small and collision job, just spray more 2k. Resto, mix up an ounce of epoxy hit the bare spots and 2k prime whole panel next morning.

Final grits prior to next step cheat sheet

There is no bad advice here, but I will throw in my process for what it is worth. Everything identical as Chris with exception of when primer is straight in your 1xx grit, I spray 2 coats of 2k, guide coat and dry sand 320 on a da with an interface pad, seal and paint if it is ANYTHING but a...

    Easiest Spraying SPI Clear

In my experience, the lower the solids, the "easier" to spray......having said that I now find that universal is easiest after learning to spray it.

    Cut Off wheels

I use WALTER brand exclusively. Nothing has come close of all the ones we ever use. I can do a whole rocker job on one wheel hahahaha. They are available online but local NAPA has them here.
