The good thing is, there's no top

It IS hard work. I've heard those air files (if that is what you're talking about) can do more harm than good if not very careful.
There are probably some efficiencies to be found but still a lot of time and sweat.
I have a Hutchins Air File and use it mainly for finish sanding on large panels that may flex slightly.Looking great!

The guy who taught me the fundamentals always emphasized that no fancy tool beats the hand when it comes to blocking panels. . So far it has proven trueLooking great!

They are in good shape.Don,I hope your 59 elco valances are in good repairable shape. The cost of valances has doubled in a year to over 1000....nuts

You don't like it?
That's kind of what in worried about as wellI don't use it to be honest, haven't touched it in 20 years. I tend to sand off more than needed and I get into the repeated application/removal process with a gallon of dust on the floor. So I have better luck using hand sanders that I can use a slow and methodical approach
Which is exactly why mine gets very limited use in the finish sanding compacity only.I don't use it to be honest, haven't touched it in 20 years. Well no sense in buying one then, PM me your address and I’ll send it to you. If it works for you, great. If you’re more in tuned to manual sanders like me, send it off to the next guy. That's kind of what in worried about as well
