1968 Plymouth GTX

I've never used "finished" and "buffing" in the same sentence before. More like "that's it, that's all I'm doing." :)

It looks really, really good!
Ha, ha. Yes, it's more like I'm finished buffing. Amazing how picky you can get. I had to reach the point where "that's good enough."

Thanks for all the kind words and thumbs up. Now on to the doors, hood and trunk lid.

I taped off the GTX emblems to respray the black portion but noticed the chrome seems to be lighter on the one.
Doubt anyone will notice since they will be on opposite sides of the car, but it bothers me.

Only because You know it...
It's a curse,knowing sometimes.
Capital Job ol' Chap.
Outstanding as we say in the U.S.
As is the Documentation you provided along the way.
Well done!

Pass side.
Excellent choice.
Nobody ever scrutinize's that side anyway. Lol...
Which oddly enough always appears "better" for some reason.
Think it's the whole Left to Right in us.

I decided to paint the dash metal, steering column, rear view mirror, A-pillar trim, etc. with the Bahama Blue paint.
This paint is supposed to impart a slight texture to the surface. Everything was black to start with, except the steering column which was just faded old paint.

Reassembling the steering column is not as easy as it looks. LOL
I had to order some small parts for it but coming along.

I have been looking at reproduction dash pads and they are running close to $600 and made in China. So I am going to attempt to restore it myself.

Below are pictures of the original vinyl texture and two purchase options (both by the same supplier).
The original show serious signs of wear on the right side of the picture. So I am thinking Option 1 may be the best choice. Any thoughts and/or suggestions?

According to the photos no.1 appears to match better. No.2 looks like a smaller grain but that could be the distance of the photo?
You are there so I'm sure you can tell which is a better match. At $600 for the pad I would also try to do it myself.
That texture paint looks great, what did you use to get that?

It was recommended on the B-bodies only forum and is a specialty mix. The can said Shop-Line mix 1:1 but his instructions were to mix it 4:1 and apply no clear to get the textured look.

Here's what I ordered:
